What is JEE?

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a national-level engineering entrance exam for students aspiring to enroll in undergraduate engineering and technology programs across India. Renowned for its competitive nature, JEE serves as a doorway to prestigious institutions such as the IITs, NITs, IIITs, and Central Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs).

JEE Exam Eligibility Criteria 2026

Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have passed or be appearing for the Class 12 examination or an equivalent examination in 2023, 2024, or 2026, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects.

Age Limit
There is no age limit for JEE Main 2026; students of any age can apply.

Minimum Marks Requirement
Candidates must secure at least 75% marks in their Class 12 board exams or be in the top 20 percentile of their respective boards. For SC/ST candidates, a minimum of 65% is required.

Number of Attempts
Candidates can attempt JEE Main for a maximum of three consecutive years, with two attempts available each year.

Subjects Required
For B.E/B.Tech courses, candidates must have studied Physics, Mathematics, and one additional subject (Chemistry/Biology/Technical Vocational). For B.Arch courses, Mathematics is mandatory.

State of Eligibility
Candidates must specify their state of eligibility based on where they completed their Class 12 examination.

JEE Advanced Eligibility
Candidates who qualify JEE Main exam with the top 2,50,000 rank will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced examination.

JEE Main (Joint Entrance Exam Main)

JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced is conducted once a year by one of the seven zonal IITs with guidance from the Joint Admission Board (JAB). The exam scores are used for admissions to BTech programmes offered by different IITs in India. Only the top 2.5 lakh rank holders of JEE Main will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.
